Sometimes I just get really lucky and am in the right place at the right time. We spent a week on the South rim at the Bright Angel Lodge. I tried to get sunset photos almost every night we were there. Our last night there it started raining about 30 minutes before sunset and thought, "that's it I'm not going to get pictures tonight." It only rained for about 15 minutes and I decided to rush out on the tram and see what I could get. Patty stayed back at the room and took a nap. I was one of only a very few people on the tram to the points. I stopped at Mojave point and got off, set up my tripod and camera facing the sun and began to watch it go down. I was the only one there. After about five minutes of this peaceful bliss something in my head said "turn around." There it was, a double rainbow coming right out of the center of the Grand Canyon. I hurried over to the other end of the point, set up my camera and I was only able to take 3 quick shots of the rainbow before it disappeared completely. The second rainbow is just to the left of the first one and not as visible but it's there.
